Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. said Wednesday that it is relocating its headquarters to Newport Beach, Calif. from Denver. Functions handled in the Denver office, as well as the company's New York office, will either move to Newport Beach or to an existing office in Columbus, Ohio. About 400 workers will be impacted, with some offered relocation and retention packages. The Columbus office, with currently 100 workers, will grow to more than 250. Chipotle is hosting a special investor call on June 27, at which time it will go into further detail. Chipotle shares are up nearly 51% for the year so far while the S&P 500 index is up nearly 2% for the period.
