Michael Shane Porterfield, 49, of 1068 Winfall Road, Gladys died on Friday, May 18, 2018, at Beckley Appalachian Hospital, W.Va. He was the husband of Kelly Lique Porterfield for 13 years. He was born on August 30, 1968, in Lynchburg, a son of Walter Lee Porterfield and Edith Mae Little Porterfield of Gladys. He was a Class A, CDL truck driver for W.E.L. Inc. Environmental Services. Michael was a huge Dale Earnhardt, Sr. fan and collector, enjoyed metal detecting, fishing, camping, watching NASCAR, flea market shopping, driving his truck and spending time with his family. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a son, Shane Wesley Porterfield of Gladys; a daughter, Samantha Michealle Porterfield of Gladys; a brother, Raymond Lee Porterfield and his wife, Deborah of Concord; a newborn grandson, Wesley Neftali Garcia; and his best friend and cousin, Heath Little. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Elsie Porterfield Doss. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 26, 2018, at Sharon United Methodist Church, Gladys by the Rev. Timothy Wilde and the Rev. Dr. R.A. "Dick" Dailey. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m., Friday, May 25, 2018, at Finch & Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Gladys and other times at the residence.
