OKLAHOMA CITY -

A machete-wielding man was arrested after he reportedly stole a snack cake from a northwest Oklahoma City convenience store, police said.

The incident happened about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 900 block of N Virginia Avenue.

The store's owner told police a black man with a machete came to the store and threatened the employee with the machete. He also said suspect went to the store everyday and stole stuff.

According to surveillance footage, a man opened the front door and grabbed a "Mrs. Freshly's" snack cake worth about $0.99. He left the store but quickly returned with a machete to grab his dropped soda. The store owner said he grabbed a metal pipe when he saw the machete and asked the man to give back the snack cake.

The man refused to give back the snack cake and left the store, according to the incident report.

The store owner said he called police because he was afraid the man was going to kill him, kill someone else or get killed by another person acting in self-defense.

Police found Jamar Allen Gamble, 21, at a homeless shelter and arrested him on a complaint of armed robbery with a cutting instrument.

Gamble was booked into the Oklahoma County jail.
