Woman surrenders after ‘killing’ son

Arguments over sharing of property take an ugly turn

A 45-year-old woman surrendered before the I-Town police after reportedly beating up her unemployed son to death over sharing of property, near her house on Yesuvari Veedhi in Jagannaipur on Tuesday.

According to police, Sivaramakrishna Reddy, 27, son of Chinnam Pratapa Reddy and Parvathi, completed his B.Tech course about four years ago but had failed to manage a job. Of late, he had been pestering his parents to give his share from the ancestral property so that he could start a business.

Midnight quarrel

Sivaramakrishna Reddy returned home drunk at Monday midnight and picked up a quarrel with his mother Parvathi over the same issue. As Pratap Reddy was out of station, Parvathi tried to convince her son.

With no positive response to his demand from his mother, Sivaramakrishna Reddy lost his cool and attacked his mother with an iron rod. Parvathi, however, managed to escape the attack and snatched away the iron rod from Sivaramakrishna Reddy. With him resorting to attack again, Parvathi reportedly hit Sivaramakrishna Reddy with the iron rod on his head. He succumbed to the injury on the spot. The body has been sent for a post-mortem. A case has been registered and investigation is on.
