Prohibitory orders in four taluks

The district administration has again imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 Code of Criminal Procedure in the four taluks of the district that come under Dakshina Kannada district police, from 6 am of Wednesday till 6 am of Friday.

In his order, Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate S. Sasikanth Senthil said the Superintendent of Police has recommended imposition of the prohibitory orders in view of the swearing-in of the new government on Wednesday. Already, clashes were witnessed in Vitla police limits on Saturday and there are chances of fresh disturbances when the new government comes in, the SP had mentioned in his letter. The order does not cover areas under Mangaluru City Police Commissionerate.

Meanwhile, Mangaluru City Police Commissioner and Additional District Magistrate Vipul Kumar on Tuesday ordered clamping of Section 144 CrPC in Mangaluru Police Commissionerate from 2 pm of Wednesday to 6 pm of Thursday on similar grounds.
