3 rape cases reported in a day in Chennai

The All Women Police Station, Mambalam, arrested a Nepalese national for allegedly raping a married woman.

The police said the victim, 25, was living with her husband and two children in T. Nagar. The family was staying in an under-construction building. The victim’s husband is working as a security guard. On Monday after the man left for night duty, Vinodh, 24, a relative, threatened the woman at knife point and raped her.

The woman later lodged a police complaint.

The police arrested Vinodh and interrogated him. He was lodged in prison after being produced in a court.

Meanwhile, two more complaints of rape have been reported at the J.J. Nagar police station. According to sources, one of the victims is a 23-year-old software engineer staying in a residential apartment.

An unidentified youth entered her house while she was sleeping and raped her at knife-point.

Another woman living in the opposite house with her child was also reportedly raped by the accused. The victim’s husband was employed abroad. The police have have arrested a youth on suspicion.
