Ujjain: Collector, mayor inspect construction work of new swimming pool


Ujjain: Collector Manish Singh and mayor Meena Jonwal inspected the construction work of a new swimming pool behind the administrative building of Ujjain Municipal Corporation (UMC) office, on Tuesday. The collector took stock of the project and budget allotted for it, suggesting customisation of priorities.

He said there might be some changes in the lay out while customising the project. The collector insisted that the pool must be on par with international standards in terms of layout and amenities. Diving and racing facilities should be made available, so that international diving competitions and matches could be organised, he said.  Singh said efforts would be made to club the project with the Smart City Project so that there would be no shortage of funds.

The mayor informed that parking facility would also be provided very close to the pool and saplings would also be planted to develop greenery. More facilities would be clubbed with the project to make it better and more useful for the citizens, she said.  The mayor discussed the project, as well as the Nazarali mill land issue and other ongoing development works in the city with the collector. The collector and mayor also inspected the land of the Samajik Nyay Parisar and discussed use of the land under the Smart City Project.


In-charge commissioner Sanjay Mehta, assistant commissioner Yogendra Patel, superintending engineer Hanskumar Jain, town and country planning director Sanjay Mishra, SDM Shitij Sharma and other officials were also present during the inspection.
