A festival of National Award winning films in Goa

A bouquet of 23 movies will be screened from Friday

The Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) in association with the Directorate of Film Festivals will be hosting the 2018 National Award Winning Film Festival from May 25 (Friday) to June 7 in the city.

A bouquet of 23 films will be screened, including regional films that have won the National Award this year.

Regional films

Kaacha Limbu, directed by Prasad Oak and winner of the Best Regional Film (Marathi), and Pavasacha Nibandha, a non feature film directed by Nagraj Manjule which won the award for Best Audiography will be screened on the inaugural day. The festival will be inaugurated in the presence of both Mr. Oak and Mr. Manjule, on Friday.

Village Rockstars will be screened at the closing ceremony and its director Rima Das will be present for the screening.

Other prominent screenings at the festival include Bhayanakam (Malayalam) for which Jayraj won the Best Director, Mom (Best Actress for Sridevi), Nagarkirtan, the Bengali film which took home a total of four awards, including the Best Actor for Riddhi Sen and a Special Jury Prize, Irada (Best Supporting Actress award for Divya Dutta), Newton (Best Hindi film and Special Jury Prize for Pankaj Tripathi).

“The audiences will also get a unique opportunity to watch films from languages like Jasari (Sinjar), Tulu (Paddayi), Ladakhi (Walking With the Wind), all of which won the Best Regional film award”, said filmmaker and vice chairman of ESG, Rajendra Talak.
