Avengers Infinity War: How does Tony Stark get BACK to Earth in Avengers 4? EXPLAINED
AVENGERS INFINITY WAR hero Iron Man, aka Tony Stark, must return to Earth in Avengers 4 with Nebula – but how?
Avengers 3 has left audiences reeling.
It was touted as a standalone epic, but has left a huge number of unanswered questions to drive Marvel fans crazy until next.
Apart from the major brainteaser of how the Thanos all those dead heroes can be brought back to life, there are also some other headscratching loose threads.
The film has been out for weeks but if you haven't seen it yet, stop reading here.
MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD
MARVEL
The movie ends with the majority of Marvel superheroes and allies dead. Those few left alive are faced with the impossible task of how to respond to The Snap.
Tony Stark will clearly be the man to lead the resistance and bring the entire first three Marvel Phases to their conclusion, just he opened them ten years ago.
Unfortunately, he also has a more pressing problem, since he is stranded on the abandoned moon of Titan with Nebula and has absolutely no means of getting back to Earth.
His armour is destroyed, he is still badly wounded and every spaceship is crashed and broken and around him.
MARVEL
In the source Marvel comicbooks, Titan is still a moon of Saturn which would at least be in our solar system.
The Titan in the movies almost certainly is somewhere much further away in the galaxy, since nobody on Earth seems to be aware of a major civilisation 'nearby' which flourished and then died.
Either way, Tony Stark seems to have no way back to Earth. Only one new hero can save him, it seems.
The new explanation says: "Stark is the driving force in the MCU right now. No-one wants to protect Earth and Humanity with such primal vigour and he's going to be the one to formulate the plan to stop Thanos and undo all the death he caused, which will drive the plot of Avengers 4.
"One problem: he's stuck on Titan. By whatever mechanism, I believe Captain Marvel will somehow be made aware of Stark's presence on Titan and bring him and Nebula back to Earth quite early on in the story."
Captain Marvel has almost godlike powers and would be more than capable of flying or teleporting the two surviving characters.
Thor is another possibility since he seems to have some access to the Bifrost again.
