Chidu wants petrol price cut by Rs 25/litre

New Delhi : Former union finance minister and Congress leader P Chidambaram on Wednesday said it is possible to cut petrol price up to Rs 25 per litre, but the government will not. “They will cheat the people by cutting price by Rs 1 or 2 per litre of petrol,” he said in a Twitter post.

Explaining why petrol price should be reduced by Rs 25, he said: “Central government saves Rs 15 on every litre of petrol due to fall in crude prices. Central government puts additional tax of Rs 10 on every litre of petrol.”

He said:”Bonanza to central government is Rs 25 on every litre of petrol. This money rightfully belongs to the average consumer.”

Chidambaram on Wednesday also posted a blog, explaining the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) system of selection of the all-India services of IAS, IPS, IFS and IF0S (Indian Forest Service) that the government is trying to disrupt, asking “if yes, why.”

At the AICC press briefing, Congress general secretary Ashok Gehlot also said the prices of petrol and diesel are touch sky, a clear loot but the Centre is just not bothered.
