Lee Gregg had a great season as Hirschi High School's tennis coach, leading the Huskies to the playoffs in the fall and to a solid spring season with regional representation.

But coach hasn't forgotten how to hit the ball, either. Gregg recently won first place at the USTA Polo Tennis Club Adult Major Zone in Austin. He beat the formerly No. 1 Men's Open player, Anis Mezzour of Dallas 6-3, 6-1 in the finals. In Gregg's previous four matches he dropped a total of seven games.

Gregg's victories helped him move up to No. 1 in the Texas men's open rankings for 2018. Gregg is No. 2 behind only Marco Valdez of San Antonio in the 12-month rolling rankings.

His players know well he is goal-oriented. Gregg's next goal for his game is taking over No. 1 in the 12-month rankings as well.
