INLD accuses BJP of betraying mandate

Leader of the Opposition in Haryana Abhay Singh Chautala has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of betraying the mandate that the country had given him and the Bharatiya Janta Party in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

“The voters of this country had given an overwhelming mandate to the BJP because of the absence of an alternative. But now that a third front was emerging, the people have a credible alternative to keep the Congress and the BJP away from power,” said Mr. Chautala in Fatehabad, addressing a gathering of Indian National Lok Dal and Bahujan Samaj Party workers who had volunteered to court arrest in the ongoing ‘Jail Bharo’ agitation, demanding immediate completion of the controversial Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal and the Dadupur-Nalvi canal.

Mr. Chautala said when voted to power in Haryana, the INLD-BSP government would raise the old age pension to ₹2500 per month and give unemployment allowance of ₹15,000 per month. It will also fulfil promises made to farmers.
