3 members of int'l narcotic drug cartel arrested

Three members of an international were arrested and worth Rs 24 crore was seized from them, police said today.

The Special Cell was working on gathering information about an international active in Manipur, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Punjab, Assam, etc. It was found that members of this cartel were involved in the supply of high grade from Manipur, said Pramod Singh Kushwah, of Police (Special Cell).

On May 20, it was learnt that Taibali had come to to deliver a consignment of heroin to his conduits in near the Indraprastha Park, Ring Road.

A trap was laid near the Indraprastha Park bus stand. Taibali arrived there with a bag and later Islamuddin and Jodder also came from the ISBT Sarai Kale Khan side.

Subsequently, the three accused were nabbed.

During interrogation, they revealed that they were associated with a drug syndicate being run by a drug supplier of

Taibali revealed that the seized consignment was supplied to him by that person. He also told police that the kingpin had links with drug suppliers in and he received huge consignments of heroin from there, police said.

There is widespread illegal cultivation of opium in the bordering areas of and drug manufacturers also prepare heroin from opium and supply it further in parts of the country, Kushwah said.

Taibali also revealed that the quality of heroin smuggled from is much superior to heroin produced in and is also cheaper than heroin produced by their counterparts in Heroin produced in is in high demand internationally and also in India, the DCP added.

Taibali was supplying heroin to his contacts, including persons of African origin in for the last three years. He has already supplied more than 120 kg heroin to his contacts in Delhi.

He also supplied heroin to drug dealers in other parts of NCR, UP, Punjab, West Bengal, etc. He used to bring consignments of heroin by keeping in secret cavities of trucks coming from Manipur to Delhi.

In the last two-three years, there has been an increase of supply of heroin in parts of from Manipur and Myanmar.

The demand of heroin produced in the traditional areas of Bareilly, Badaun, Barabanki in UP, Jhalawar in and Mandsore in has diminished in comparison to heroin brought from Manipur and Myanmar due to superior quality and less cost, the DCP added.
