The Future Of The Home: Werner Vogels, Amazon CTO, on making our houses more human-centric

Technology has reached the “inflection point” when smart machines are changing and improving human behaviour in a way previously limited to science fiction novels, the chief technology officer of the internet giant Amazon has told the Telegraph.

“Many of the things you now need to control will become automated,” said Werner Vogels, boss of the division which runs the Alexa home assistant. “Use your imagination. If you think like a science fiction author you are getting close to the capabilities that will arise.”

Vogel runs Amazon Web Services, a key player in so-called “cloud” computing, which allows even the simplest object to perform complex functions by connecting to the internet.
