4,849 more urban dwellings sanctioned

The State Government on Monday sanctioned additional number of 4,849 dwelling houses in 20 ULBs under the Odisha Urban Housing Mission (OUHM).

Chief Secretary AP Padhi accorded sanction to these houses at the State-level Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee meeting held at the Secretariat. Housing and Urban Development Secretary G Mathivathanan outlined the issues for discussion.

Padhi too asked the department to expedite the process of the issue of work orders against the sanctioned projects and ensure their early completion. He also directed the department to complete at least 38,000 dwelling units within six months.

Mission Director Suresh Chandra Dalai said the 4,849 houses would be built with investment of around Rs 14,588 crore.

Out of Rs 3 lakh given for a house, beneficiary gets a financial assistance of around Rs 2 lakh, which is borne by both the Central and State Governments, and the rest amount of Rs 1 lakh would be spent by the beneficiary.

With the additional houses sanctioned on Monay, the total number of houses sanctioned under the OUHM increased to 59,121 in 110 ULBs.

By now, around 38,000 work orders have been issued and 2,376 houses completed. Construction of balance houses are under progress.
