All donations towards the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund(PMNRF) and the National Defence Fund(NDF) are notified for 100% deduction from taxable income under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act,1961

At least three persons died today in police firing against Sterlite factory protesters near Thuthukkudi Collectorate in Tamil Nadu. This followed protesters pelting stones at the police and disobeying Section 144 orders.

Protesters have also picketted the district administration headquarters in Thuthukkudi. Traffic has also been disrupted on the Thuthukkudi Tirunelveli highway. Additional police forces have been rushed to Thuthukkudi.

Sterlite Industries engages primarily in the mining of copper and production of copper products. It has been long-opposed by the local residents for polluting their environment as well as causing a range of health problems.

Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy has started consultations with the state police authorities for bringing normalcy to the district.
