Zambian arrested for possessing drugs in Punjab

A Zambian national was arrested for allegedly possessing 'ganja' and other intoxicants pills, police said today.

James Zimba, a resident of Republic of Zambia, was arrested yesterday at a police check post near Maheru village -- where he was residing in a rented accommodation-- 7 km from Phagwara city, post incharge Baljinder Singh said today.

Around 86 grams of contraband and 56 capsules and tablets were recovered from Zimba's possession, the police said.

The arrest was made under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

According to the police, Zimba studied at the (LPU), Chaheru, but after completing his course he decided to stay back in as his visa was valid till July this year.
