Governor for separate tribal languages departments

Governor cum Chancellor of State universities Droupadi Murmu on Monday discussed the appropriate circumstances for opening separate departments for tribal languages such as Mundari, Kurukh, Santali, Ho. During a high-level meeting she said that the proposal for opening of department, proposals will be sent by the concerned university to the Government in which the enrollment of various students in the last five years, the number of students appeared in the examination and the number of students passed will be checked.

Sidho-Kanho University for Santhali and Kolhan University for Ho has been marked in the meeting. In Ranchi University, 5 tribal languages and 4 regional languages are taught. The Governor has instructed to start degree course for arts and culture and fine arts jointly. 

The meeting was chaired by Governor cum Chancellor of state universities Draupadi Murmu, on the development of Tribal and Regional Languages Department, Ranchi University. Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Finance Sukhdev Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Personnel department KK Khandelwal, Secretary, Higher Education and Technical Education Ajay Kumar Singh, Secretary, Welfare Himani Pandey, Principal Secretary to Governor Dr. Nitin madan Kulkarni, Pro. VC, Ranchi University Dr. Kamini Kumar and others were present.

The Governor also instructed to improve the situation of the hostels operated by the welfare department and asked to take application of students’ desires to stay at hostel at the time of admission and take immediate action to remove unauthorized occupation in hostel. In the meeting, the Welfare Secretary informed to the Governor that the tender has been invited for the repair of Bhagirathi hostel.

Meanwhile, a meeting on academic and administrative work of Birsa Agriculture University was organized at Raj Bhavan on Monday. Secretary of Agriculture, Puja Singhal presented a roadmap to double the income of the farmers of the State by 2022. The Governor stressed on completion of the incomplete construction of newly established 5 colleges by Birsa Agriculture University and to transfer the students to them.

Murmu on Monday gave the order to complete the appointment of Assistant Professor in the State University to the President of Jharkhand Public Service Commission, K. Vidyasagar by November, 2018 and also start promotion process from first week of July. The Chairman of Jharkhand Public Service Commission informed the Governor that there are 1080 posts for assistant professor in which 6000 candidates will be invited for the interview and the process can take 2 to 3 months. Promotion of the teachers was also discussed in the meeting.

The Governor instructed to release the advertisement for the appointment of assistant professor soon and said that the roster clearance was done in the year 2016 and now it cannot be delayed any further.
