Porsche 718 and Ferrari 458 worth total £230,000 wrecked in crash

Two supercars with a combined value of £230,000 have been written off after colliding on a roundabout in Sheffield. 

Images of the crash posted by South Yorkshire Police shows one of the supercars, an £80,000 Porsche 718 Cayman GTS, lost both of its rear wheels and its wing mirrors. The roof also appears to have been dented, suggesting the vehicle may have rolled over following the collision.

Somewhat bizarrely, the German supercar “ended up with takeaway curry splashed across the windscreen”, the Daily Mail reports.

The other car, a £150,000 Ferrari 458, lost its front-right wheel and most of the surrounding bodywork. The airbags had also deployed and the windscreen cracked.

Witnesses say both drivers fled the scene shortly after the smash, at 7:55pm on Sunday.

The BBC reports that the Porsche driver, a 26-year-old man who “suffered minor injuries”, later returned to his car. 

South Yorkshire Police has put out an appeal for information in a bid to find out how the accident occurred.
