7 civilians injured in Pak firing in Jammu region

border-bsfIn the wake of unabated ceasefire violations by Pakistani forces, heavy cross border shelling along the entire International Border in Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts is still continuing.

The Pakistani Rangers heavy mortar shelling in RS Pura, Arnia and Hiranagar sectors since last evening has, so far, left 7 civilians injured. A BSF spokesperson in Jammu told MEDIA that the troops have been giving a befitting reply to Pakistan shelling along the border ranging from Akhnoor to Kathua and major loss has been inflicted on the forces across the border.

Over forty border outposts and around fifty villages and hamlets are affected due to shelling. Administration has activated relief camps at safer places all along the IB especially in R S Pura and Arnia sectors which witnessed heavy mortar shelling by Pakistan over the past two days. Hundreds of the affected people have been evacuated to these camps set up in educational institutions and other government buildings.

All the schools vulnerable to Pakistani shelling have been closed along the IB as a precautionary measure. The latest round of cross-border shelling started on May 15 when BSF foiled two infiltration attempts by Pakistan-backed infiltrators in Samba sector.
