The luxury South Island lodge previously owned by country music superstar Shania Twain has added individual rooms to the premises, opening it up to holidaymakers for the first time.

Until now, the entire Mahu Whenua complex was only available for private hire, for a whopping $15,000 a night.

Renovations have included four new cottages which were built with couples in mind. The new accommodation offers king size beds, ensuite bathrooms, flatscreen TVs and wifi - as well as the inclusion of meals. Guests also have access to a communal shared space with open fireplaces and a farmhouse style kitchen.

The palatial estate also features a helipad, stables, games room, swimming pool and a spa.

Mahu Whenua, which boasts sweeping views of the breathtaking landscape, was originally purchased by Shania Twain.

Mahu Whenua, which boasts sweeping views of the breathtaking landscape, was originally purchased by Shania Twain and her ex-husband Robert "Mutt" Lange in 2004 for $21.5 million. It is now solely owned by Lange.

Lange acquired sole ownership of several high country properties after his 2008 divorce from Twain, including Mototapu Station, Mt Soho, Glencoe and Coronet Peak.

Shania Twain will tour New Zealand for the first time this December. The Man, I Feel Like A Woman singer will perform two shows - in Auckland and Dunedin - at the end of this year as part of her Now world tour.
