Recent food drive sets record in Augusta

To the Editor,
The Augusta Community Caring Center would like to thank the people of Augusta who so generously set food by their mailboxes or provided cash donations during the Postal Food Drive.  A record was set with more than 4,800 pounds of food collected.
We also greatly appreciated the work of the postal workers in collecting the food and Augusta Boy Scout Troop 212 for helping us unload and sort it.
The Augusta Caring Center is sponsored by the churches in Augusta and is staffed totally by volunteers who join together with the community in assisting those in need.  The community’s support is essential and much appreciated by many.
