Market Now: PSU bank stocks suffer losses; BoB, SBI among top losers
NEW DELHI: Most PSU bank stocks including Bank of Baroda (down 1.04 per cent), IDBI Bank (down 0.73 per cent) and State Bank of India (down 0.45 per cent) were trading in the negative territory in Tuesday's session, keeping the sectoral index down.
The Nifty PSU Bank index was trading 0.43 per cent down at 2,716 around 10:35 am.
Shares of Andhra Bank (down 0.43 per cent), Bank of India (down 0.41 per cent), Canara Bank (down 0.37 per cent), Union Bank of India (down 0.29 per cent) and Indian Bank (down 0.11 per cent) were also in the red.
Meanwhile, shares of Syndicate Bank (up 2.92 per cent) surged nearly 3 per cent.
Punjab National Bank (up 0.38 per cent) and Oriental Bank of Commerce (up 0.13 per cent) were also witnessing mild gains.
Equity markets were in the green on buying across sectors, led by private banks and financials.
Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 41 points at 10,558, while the BSE Sensex was up 121 points at 34,737.
Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 32 were trading in the green, while 18 were in the red.
Shares of Ashok Leyland, PNB, DLF, SBI, ICICI Bank, Idea Cellular, YES Bank and Bank of Baroda were among most traded stocks on NSE.
