Mr. Boomershine is a business expert whose extensive experience at the executive level spanned more than 52 years before retiring in 2007. Highly regarded in his industry for his professionalism, breadth of knowledge, and insight, he concluded his career as the president and chief executive officer for the central Alabama division of the Better Business Bureau, which exists to offer resources to consumers and businesses, including business and charity reviews, complaints, statistics, and ratings to assist in intelligent buying decisions. He took on this role after establishing his reputation of excellence in the field of business and finance in 1982. Previously, Mr. Boomershine came to prominence in roles including vice president of the sales manager division of the Community Development Metropolitan Board in Birmingham, AL, vice president of the national division of the Birmingham Trust National Bank, business development representative for Exchange Security Bank, senior sales representative for IBM in Dayton, OH, and junior executive for General Motors Corporation in the Program Frigidaire division.
In addition to his professional work, Mr. Boomershine has taken on career-related projects to share his expertise with organizations and universities. Notably, he served on the business advisory council for the Sorrell College of Business at Troy University, interim executive director for Alabama Public TV, chairman for the Atlanta-Birmingham Branch of the Federal Reserve Board, chairman of the Business Tomorrow Conference for the University of South Alabama, and educational chairman associate of Industries Alabama. When asked of his success, Mr. Boomershine credits his love of his work and the hard work he has put behind all of his career endeavors.
To prepare for his career, Mr. Boomershine earned a Bachelor of Science from Bowling Green State University in 1953, followed by graduation from Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers in 1972. Along the way, Mr. Boomershine has continued his education by taking coursework at the Bank Marketing Graduate School at Northwestern University and the National Senior Commerce Lending School at the University of Oklahoma. Today, he remains at the top of his field through his affiliation with the Bank Marketing Association, the Alabama Industrial Development Council, the Southern Industrial Council, and the U.S. Marine Corps League. Mr. Boomershine completed 50 years as an ARC leader and volunteer. He has been cited in Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Commerce and Industry, Who's Who in the South and Southwest and Who's Who in Banking and Politics.
As he looks toward the future, Mr. Boomershine plans to enjoy his retirement while taking on select projects in his field for consulting.
