Ujjain: To protest government apathy and non-fulfilment of promises, farmers are readying for agitation once again. It is said that they would start their strike from June 1 and it will continue for 10 days. During this period, farmers will neither sell their produce in the mandis nor will they buy something from the city. It is also said that the farmers will not supply vegetable and milk in the cities during these period.
Bharatiya Kisan Union national president Rakesh Singh Tikait, who came to seek blessings of Lord Mahakal on Sunday, said about the proposed Kisan movement and sought good sence prevailed upon Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Tikait attacked the BJP government and alleged that the announcement and schemes for the farmers were confined to the papers only as they have no existence on the reality. Union’s general secretary Anil Yadav accused the Shivraj government of cheating the farmers and not booking the policemen who shot dead farmers during the Kisan movement in Mandsaur last year. Union’s divisional in-charge Jagdish Patidar, district president Dilip Jat, treasurer Farooq Patel, district executive president Yatish Jat, district youth president Rajesh Chaudhary and organising secretary Peerulal Jat were present.
