Five killed, 10 hurt as Tirupati pilgrims' car collides with DCM vehicle in Andhra Pradesh
The victims hailing from Gadivemula village in Kurnool district were on the way to Tirupati when the accident occurred.

TIRUPATI: Five pilgrims died and 10 others were injured in a ghastly road mishap on Kadapa-Tirupati highway near Mamandur under Railway Kodur police limits in Kadapa district on Sunday.
According to the police, a group of 12 pilgrims from Gadivemula village in Nandyal rural mandal of Kurnool district were going to Tirumala for darshan and tonsuring of one-year-old Devansh, son of one Praveen (32).
In the early hours, the Bolero in which the pilgrims were travelling collided headed on with a Eicher van near Mamandur. While the pilgrims were heading to Tirupati, the van was heading to Kadapa. Five occupants of Bolero died on the spot, while seven others suffered serious injuries.
The driver of van and two others travelling in that vehicle also suffered injuries. The highway patrol vehicle rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to SVR Ruia Hospital in Tirupati. The deceased were identified as Praveen (32), his son Devansh (1), Narayanamma (70), Nagaraja Setty (55) and Ramadevi (50). Railway Kodur police have registered a case and investigation is on.
Woman killed as car rams van
Nellore: One woman died and three others sustained injuries when a car hit a stationary van from the rear side on the National Highway at Kavali. The deceased was identified as Padmavathi (60). According to the police, Padmavathi along with Adilakshmi, Bhanuchander and Madhavilatha hailing from Cheemakurthi in Prakasam district, attended a function in Nellore on Sunday. They were returning to their native place and the car in which they were travelling hit the van. Adilakshmi, Bhanuchander and Madhavilatha received severe injuries and were shifted to Kavali government hospital. Kavali police have registered a case and are investigating.
One dies, two injured in bike-car collision
Nellore: One person died and two others received injuries in a road mishap at Kotapolu turning in Sullurpet mandal on Sunday. The deceased was identified as P Chellaiah (42). According to the police, Chellaiah hailing from Konepalli village was going to Sullurpet along with two others when the motorcycle on which they were travelling collided with a car at Kotapolu turning. The injured were shifted to Sullurpeta government hospital. Sullurpet police registered a case and are investigating.
Armed Reserve cop shoots himself with AK-47
Tirupati: An Armed Reserve constable committed suicide by shooting himself with his AK-47 here on Sunday. According to the police, Rajasekhar Babu (32) who hails from Srikakulam, had been in a state of depression for the last three weeks. The AR cop who was on security duty at SP’s bungalow, shot himself with his service weapon this morning. A case has been registered.
