50K youths to get skill training in 10 years: Min

Establishment of Skill Development Institute in Bhubaneswar has been the greatest source of happiness for me during the last four years, said Union Minister of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Skill Development Dharmendra Pradhan, while addressing the students, parents and faculty as the chief guest at the second Foundation Day celebration of the institute here.

Pradhan said that a state of art modern Skill Development Center will be ready by the year end to accommodate 3,000 youths with training, hostel, laboratory, library facilities coming up near Jatni in a sprawling campus of 46 acres of land given by the State Government.

The centre has targeted to skill 50,000 youths of Odisha within the next 10 years. Oil companies will spend Rs 500 crore for the project, he added.

Apart from this, the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology will also come up in Bhubaneswar, Pradhan informed.

While outlining potential of Bhubaneswar as a Skill City, Pradhan also announced that a Modern ToT Centre in collaboration with SAP to boost computer technology and mobile application is going to be set up.

Pradhan felicitated successful trainees and their parents and also distributed certificates to the passed out students. A commemorative postal stamp was unveiled on the occasion.
