Karnataka: 'Had to swallow all bitterness', Congress' DK Shivakumar on alliance with JD(S); Kumaraswamy denies rumours of rift
Even before the dust has settled stormed kicked up by BJP leader BS Yeddyurappa's resignation making way for a Congress-JD(S) government in Karnataka, dissent has already started showing in the new alliance.
While CM-elect HD Kumaraswamy is planning a trip to Delhi for finalising the details of Cabinet composition with Congress high command, the senior Congress leader in the state admitted that joining hands with JD(S) was a major compromise.
Congress party's point person for alliance DK Shivakumar today told ANI that he had a bitter history with the new alliance partners but 'had to swallow all bitterness' in the interest of a secure government in the state.
"Rahul Gandhi has taken a decision that there should be secular government here. That's what the entire country needs and that's why we have taken this stand (alliance with JDS). I had to swallow all this bitterness, this is my duty," Shivakumar said.

On being questioned if Congress-JD(S) government will complete full-term despite differences, the leader said, "Time will answer. I don't want to answer it now. We have various issues, options before us, I can't tell right now."

Meanwhile, Kumaraswamy dismissed the claims that there was any dissent in the two alliance partners. When probed by reporters today, the JD(S) leader said, "Who told you? This is all bogus & fake news. This is not true."
