According to the analysts, Japanese retailers are in suspicion to again witness the frenzy shopping style of the Chinese that gripped the visitors few years back.

The excessive spending nature of the cash-rich mainland Chinese visitors in Japan even got its own expression, “bakugai”, meaning “explosive shopping”.

However, as visitor numbers kept on increasing, hitting 24.04 million in 2016, accounted an up of 22 percent from the previous year and surpassing the 20 million mark for the first time. Soon, Chinese tourists became a good deal more circumspect with their cash.

Witnessing the change, the Kansai International Airport operator, which serves Osaka and central Japan, declared on cancelling a plan with BicCamera Inc to launch a duty free section in the electronics retailer’s store in the Namba district of Osaka.
