AMMK wants SC verdict implemented in toto

Govt. must ensure Tamil Nadu received its due share of water every month: Dhinakaran

The Supreme Court verdict on the Cauvery water sharing scheme should be implemented in toto, as per the wishes of the farming community of the Cauvery delta region, said T.T.V. Dhinakaran, founder of the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK).

Speaking to mediapersons in Salem on Sunday, Mr. Dhinakaran said the government should take steps to ensure that the State received its due share of water every month, in accordance with the Supreme Court verdict.

Terming the present AIADMK regime “anti-people”, he said the government had betrayed the interests of the people and failed them on all fronts.

Referring to the Salem-Chennai green corridor project, to be implemented at an outlay of ₹10,000 crore, Mr. Dhinakaran said there was no need for the eight-lane road project as it would affect the livelihood of a large number of farmers and the downtrodden.
