CM to lay foundation stone for Navi Mumbai-Kalyan road today

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will lay the foundation stone for a road connecting Navi Mumbai and Kalyan and for a new bridge in Thane on Monday.

The Navi Mumbai-Kalyan road will start at Airoli and consist of an elevated section and a 1.7-km-long tunnel. The six-lane road is expected to be completed within 40 months after the project is awarded.

The project has been in the pipeline for several years, and once completed is expected to radically reduce travel time between Kalyan and Navi Mumbai.

Bridge at Kopri

The eight-lane rail overbridge at Kopri in Thane will replace the existing one. Two bridges of two lanes each will be constructed on either side of the existing bridge in the first phase. In the second phase, the existing bridge will be pulled down to make way for a new four-lane bridge. The project is expected to be completed in 36 months.

Mr. Fadnavis will address a public meeting after laying the foundation stone at MIDC industrial area in Airoli. He will also inaugurate two flyovers, one on the Ghansoli-Talavli stretch and the other at Savita Chemicals junction, and an underpass at Mahape. All are along Thane-Belapur Road.
