Cape Town - Western Province's Currie Cup-winning coach John Dobson has been linked with a job in Ireland at Connacht.
According to Irish publication, The42, Dobson and Australian Andy Friend, who has coached the Brumbies as well as the Australian Sevens team, have been shortlisted to replace the sacked Kieran Keane.
Dobson and Western Province won the Currie Cup in 2017 and that has helped enhance Dobson's reputation as one of the most promising young coaches in South Africa.
Dobson is still under contract at Western Province and will be until the end of the 2020 season, but the report suggests that he has an exit clause written into it.
With Stormers coach Robbie Fleck currently under pressure with his side struggling, Dobson could emerge as a potential replacement should the franchise part ways with their current boss.
Dobson does have coaching experience in Europe, having worked as a technical director at Italian club Rugby Roma Olimpic in 2009.
