A Coraopolis man has been charged with shooting at a man during the course of a drug transaction, police said.
ALIQUIPPA — A Coraopolis man has been charged with shooting at a man during the course of a drug transaction, police said.
According to a police report, Fidell Eberhardt, 27, shot at a man at about 2:30 a.m. May 5 in the Linmar Terrace housing complex in Aliquippa.
Police said the victim reported the assault at about 1 p.m. that day.
The man told police he arranged to buy $100 worth of cocaine from Eberhardt and met in in the 300 block of Linmar Terrace, police said. According to the report, Eberhardt first accused the man of being an undercover police officer, which he denied.
Police said after Eberhardt accepted the man was not a police officer, he attempted to grab money out of the man’s hand. The man began to drive away and heard about five gunshots fired at his car, police said.
According to the report, officers found a bullet hole in the car as well as a “slug” that was found in the trunk.
Police said the man knew Eberhardt only as “Frank” and described him as black, tall and having “crossed eyes.” The victim was about to identify him in a photo lineup, police said.
According to the report, Eberhardt was known to officers as a result of “numerous police interactions.”
Eberhardt, of 1415 Fifth Ave., was charged by Aliquippa police on May 5 with conspiracy to commit robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a prohibited firearm and reckless endangerment.
As of Monday evening, Eberhardt has not been taken into police custody.
