Royal Wedding 2018: Why were David and Victoria Beckham invited? What about the Clooneys?
ROYAL WEDDING 2018 guests included a whole host of celebrities, from David and Victoria Beckham to George Clooney and his wife Amal. But why were the stars invited? How do they know Meghan Markle and Prince Harry?
David and Victoria Beckham
England football ace David, 43, has impressed the Royal Family in the years since his retirement, with charity work for the likes of the Elton John Aids Foundation, Sport Relief and Malaria No More.
He and Victoria, 44, also have their own foundation, the Victoria and David Beckham Charitable Trust, and he is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
The famous couple attended the wedding of Prince William, 35, and the Duchess of Cornwall Kate Middleton, 36, back in 2011.
They also have a home in Oxfordshire close to Soho Farmhouse, where Meghan Markle, 36, and Prince Harry, 33, have spent weekends away.
George and Amal Clooney
Hollywood A-lister George, 57, is thought to have connected with the royals through his charitable work.
Human rights lawyer Amal, 40, is credited with introducing Meghan to her hairdresser Miguel Perez.
The Duchess of Sussex has been known to wear the stylings of the Chelsea-based hairdresser on many occasions since she relocated to London.
Tom Hardy
The 40-year-old Mad Max star attended the star-studded Royal Wedding on Saturday alongside his actress wife Charlotte Riley, 36.
He is known to have met Prince Harry when the royal made an appearance at the London premiere of his movie Dark Knight Rises six years ago.

Serena Williams
The tennis star met Meghan at DIRECTV’s Celebity Beach Bowl back in 2014 when they were on the same team for a flag football game.
Writing on her now defunct lifestyle blog The Tig, Meghan said: “We hit if off immediately, taking pictures, laughing through the flag football game were were both playing in, and chatting not about tennis or acting, but about all the good old fashioned girly stuff.”
The 39-time Grand Slam title holder, 36, attended the Royal Wedding with her husband and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, 35.
Carey Mulligan and Marcus Mumford
The 32-year-old actress has plenty in common with the newlyweds as she has worked for the War Child charity in the Congo and her older brother also served in Iraq and Afghanistan, where Prince Harry served.
Her musician husband Marcus, 31, of Mumford and Sons fame, is thought to have been on the guest list due to his work with the One Campaign, which combats AIDS and poverty.
