JAMMU: At least five people, including four civilians and a Special Police Officer (SPO), were injured in ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the International Border (IB) in Arnia sector of
Jammu region on Monday.

BSF official said Pakistani troops started mortar firing in the general area of Arnia around 7.00am, targeting Vikram, Chinaz and Nikowal border outposts. He added that the Indian side retaliated “strongly and effectively” to the firing.
The injured were identified as Darshana Devi, 55,
Sudesh Devi, 55, Madhu Bala, 45, Mohinder Lal and SPO Gurcharan Singh. They were admitted to a government hospital in Jammu for treatment.
Police sources said Pakistani Rangers started unprovoked shelling and firing at forward areas of Narayanpur and
Ramgarh in
Samba district around 8.40am and 12pm, hours after “pleading” to the BSF to stop firing. On Sunday, Pakistan had called BSF for ceasefire along the IB. Pakistani Rangers and BSF officers had agreed to maintain peace and tranquillity.
