Madhusudan Law College to be made varsity

The State Government has decided to upgrade the Madhusudan Law College in Cuttack into a law university and enhance the welfare fund of the lawyers very soon.

“Steps have been taken at the Government level to declare the Madhusudan Law College as a law university. The Advocates’ Welfare Fund will be enhanced from the present Rs 3 crore to Rs 5 crore from next year,” said BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at the State executive meeting of the BJD Legal Front here on Sunday.

The Government would also establish an advocate academy for training and skill development of lawyers in the districts, the Chief Minister also informed.

Patnaik urged the lawyers’ community to come forward to support the battle for the Mahanadi and save the pride of Odisha.

Among others, Law Minister Pratap Jena, Cuttack-Barabati MLA Debasish Samantaray, BJD Legal Front convenor Milan Kanungo, advisors Gopal Krushna Mohanty, Asim Amitabh Dash and Subir Palit, coordinator Manoj Verma and many State and district-level functionaries were present.
