White seems to be the colour car buyers chose for their new cars to be decked in most in South Africa.
In April 2018, 45.7% of all new passenger cars sold were white vehicles and only 22.5% of cars sold were silver. Grey was the third favourite option on 12.4%.
Rainbow nation
8.9% of new buyers opted for red, while blue was also relatively popular on 5.3%. Surprisingly, gold (1.7%) was in the top six of colours chosen.
Black, a not uncommon colour, saw only 1% of car buyers select it as an option, but it still outshone colours like green and beige.
Also, some car buyers seem to have a sense of adventure and have selected bright colours for their machines. Orange, yellow, and maroon may not be of the popular choices, but it attracts the attention.
Brown is also in the mix.
