Man charged in Sunday DUI rollover crash

State police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that happened Sunday evening and left a man hospitalized in critical condition. 

Police said Juan Gomez-Gomez, a 35-year-old from Laurel, was driving on Old Stage Road south of Whitesville Road in Delmar when a rear tire blew out. Police said Gomez-Gomez lost control and his car turned over several times before ejecting him.

Gomez-Gomez was transported to Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Maryland, where he was treated for minor injuries. The passenger, a 30-year-old Laurel man, was also transported to PRMC and admitted in critical condition.

Police charged Gomez-Gomez with DUI, first-degree vehicular assault, unreasonable speed and having no valid license. His extradition is pending, police said.
