A truck has crashed into a power pole in Church St, Onehunga.

Power has been cut to hundreds of homes in the Auckland suburb of Onehunga after a small truck crashed into a power pole. 

A Vector spokesman said 850 homes were affected by the power cut on Monday evening.

The power pole came down after a truck crashed at the corner of Church St and Catherine St, a Fire and Emergency spokeswoman said.

One person was still in the vehicle but not trapped, the spokeswoman said. 

The person was not injured.

Power lines could be seen strewn across a small truck with its driver inside at 5.30pm.

Power had been cut to 850 homes, a Vector spokesman said.
