Lakeland’s Matt Detering of Mentor named first-team all-conference

Matt Detering had a big freshman season for the Lakeland Community College baseball team, and the Mentor graduate was honored for it.

Detering was named first-team All-Ohio Community College Athletic Conference and earned a spot on the conference’s All-Freshman team. The first baseman hit .375 in the OCCAC play with nine doubles, three triples and two home runs.

Teammate Jacob Nagy was a second-team pick for the Lakers. He hit .342 with six RBI in 15 games.

Lakeland finished the season 14-24 and 7-13 in the conference.
