Waikato DHB executive director of community and clinical support Mark Spittal has resigned (file photo).

​Another senior Waikato DHB executive is heading for the exit.

DHB executive director of community and clinical support Mark Spittal​ has resigned and will leave the health board in June.

His departure was announced by DHB acting chief executive Derek Wright in his monthly report to health board members.

Spittal is set to take up an executive role at the Western NSW Local Health District in Australia.

Spittal's wife Mary-Anne Spence, who serves as Waikato Hospital's clinical nurse director of emergency and acute medicine, has also announced her resignation.

Spittal is the latest senior figure to depart the Waikato DHB in the past 12 months.

Disgraced DHB chief executive Nigel Murray quit in October followed by senior executive Brett Paradine​ in November.

That same month Waikato DHB chairman Bob Simcock stood down from his role.

Julie Wilson, who served as executive director of strategy and funding, has also since resigned.

Wright said Spittal and Spence would be missed by many in the organisation.

Meanwhile, Wright has completed the restructure of his executive team and confirmed the creation of two new positions: executive director of human resources and organisational development and chief adviser for allied health scientific and technical.
