‘Yeddyurappa was made a scapegoat’

BJP violated democratic spirit: Congress

Mohammed Ali Shabbir, leader of Opposition in TSLC said the Karnataka episode has exposed the dirty face of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Mr. Yeddyurappa was made the scapegoat by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi by forcing him to claim for the formation of the government.

In a statement here, Mr. Shabbir said Rahul Gandhi’s effort to save democracy and to save Karnataka from the BJP proved to be fruitful and all the strategies of the party leadership worked.

He said the former Karnataka Chief Minister, B.S. Yeddyurappa and the pro-tem speaker, K.G. Boppaiah, had no respect for the national anthem as they left in frustration when it was being played, contrary to their tall talk on nationalism.

He said the BJP and Mr. Modi have demolished all constitutional institutions like the office of the Governor and made attempts to foil the democratic spirit in Karnataka. It reflected in the way the Goveror, Vajubai Vala, granted 15 days time to prove majority when Mr. Yediyurappa had asked for just 7 days.

Mr. Shabbir also cautioned the people of Telangana to be wary of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekara Rao who was functioning as an invisible friend of the BJP and aiding Modi.
