Royal Wedding LIVE: Meghan Markle and Prince Harry LEAVE Windsor to start married life

MEGHAN Markle and her new husband Prince Harry have left the grounds of Windsor where they spent their first day as a married couple after partying in to the night following an extraordinary multi-cultural and US-themed Royal Wedding that captivated the world.

The new Duke and Duchess of Sussex will now begin their married life together after sharing historic, romantic wedding ceremony in Windsor.

Newlyweds Harry and Meghan travelled home to Nottingham Cottage, Kensington Palace, this afternoon to fulfill their royal duties before they go on their honeymoon.

Fireworks lit up the skies of Windsor last night following a spectacular and emotional ceremony, which combined British traditions with diversity and modernity as Harry and Meghan incorporated the bride's cultural heritage.

Newlyweds Harry and Meghan danced the night away with 200 guests at a glamorous black-tie dinner reception - with the bride wearing a ring which belonged to Harry's late mother Diana, Princess of Wales.

Meghan switched from her stunning elegant, formal pure white wedding gown by Clare Waight Keller for Givenchy, to a glamorous lily white halter neck by Stella McCartney for the black tie evening do.

Guests erupted into cheers when Prince Harry referred to Meghan as his wife for the first time, before delivering a funny "off-the-cuff" speech.

The 33-year-old prince praised his new wife during his Royal Wedding reception speech telling Meghan she had "navigated everything with such grace" following a turbulent week for the American bride.

During a gushing speech, the groom praised the new Duchess of Sussex before telling her: "We make such a great team. I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you".

An unnamed guest told the People: "It was very off-the-cuff, which was lovely.

“He promised that all the Americans wouldn’t steal the swords and said 'Please, when you leave, be quiet as you don’t want to wake the neighbours,’ which was quite fun."

Revellers reportedly danced the night away to Harry's favourite house tunes curated by DJ Sam Totolee, who played at Pippa Middleton's wedding and also enjoyed drinks at a 'drinks of the world' themed bar.

On the menu for close friends and family was candyfloss and 'dirty' burgers at midnight and a cocktail featuring ginger and rum named 'When Harry met Meghan' - a hilarious nod to Prince Harry's ginger hair, according to sources.

The couple reportedly chose Whitney Houston's 'I Wanna Dance With Somebody' as an opening number to their reception.

Prince Charles also paid for a slap up sit down dinner, which took place between 7.30pm to 10pm, serving up a 'spring meets summer' selection of organic canapes.

And guests must have still been hungry as Pizza Express pizzas were also delivered to Frogmore House.

Guests were reported to be in tears as Prince Charles delivered an emotional speech just hours after he walked Meghan down the aisle, stepping in for Meghan's father Thomas Markle who could not make it to the UK following health implications.

Prince Charles is said to have delivered a "brilliant" speech about his youngest son's childhood - where he made no mention of his late ex-wife Diana - and paid tribute to the "beautiful" couple.

The future King told guests how he was proud of the man Prince Harry had "grown into" before ending his speech by telling his son: "‘My darling old Harry, I’m so happy for you."

The guest added: “He said he was very pleased to be asked to walk Meghan down the aisle and happy to help out.”

Compère for the night James Corden, who attended with his wife Julia, also raised a glass to the happy couple, with the host pulling some strings with a special secret “surprise” for the couple.

Charity boss Suhani Jalota told the Sun: "Some people were even crying. I think it was just a very, really nice atmosphere to be in where everybody felt really loved.

“Essentially it was just about how Harry was as a child and growing up. And now just about the couple and how beautiful they are together.

“So I think it was just about their personalities and how they gel really well together.”

While Meghan thanked the Royal Family for welcoming her into the fold.

In an iconic moment, the divorcee walked half way through the chapel alone before meeting Prince Charles who took her to the altar and his youngest son, clearly emotional at the sight of his stunning bride.

Best man Prince William is said to have delivered a "naughty" speech helped by Harry's close friends Tom 'Skippy' Inskip and Tom Van Straubenzee.

It wouldn't have taken father-of-three William long to come up with material for his best man speech at the Royal Wedding following Harry's history of making headlines for his “party prince” antics including naked nights in Las Vegas to offensive costume choices.

Guests are said to have returned to London for a late-night after party at Chiltern Firehouse in Marylebone.

It came just before 600 guests enjoyed performances from Sir Elton John, a close friend of Harry's late mother Princess Diana, at a lunctime reception, hosted by the Queen.

Harry reportedly turned to his guests and asked: "Can anyone play the piano?' before the music legend gave a moving medley of four hits - Your Song, Tiny Dancer, Circle Of Life and I'm Still Standing.

Sir Elton John was a special guest at the Royal Wedding due to his connections with Princess Diana and formed an emotional rendition of 'Candle in the Wind' at her funeral.

The royal couple started their evening in style as Prince Harry drove his new wife from Windsor Castle in a silver blue classic convertible Jaguar E-Type Concept Zero, which was originally manufactured in 1968 and has been converted to electric power.

The happy couple waved and smiled as they headed to meet their friends at the Frogmore House celebration, hosted by Prince Charles.

The historic, romantic royal wedding ceremony saw Meghan become the first mixed race person in modern history to marry a senior British royal.

The royal bride and groom married in the gothic surrounds of the 15th-century St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.

Some 600 guests including the Queen and more than 30 royals joined the couple in the chapel, along with celebrities such as US chat show queen Oprah Winfrey, tennis champion Serena Williams, actor George Clooney and his barrister wife Amal Clooney, Sir Elton John, David and Victoria Beckham and actor Idris Elba.

The beautiful bride looked stunning in a simple but spectacular long-sleeved white dress teamed with a glorious five-metre veil which covered her face and a diamond tiara.

Dress designer, Clare Waight Keller reavealed how she spoke to Harry after the ceremony.

She said: "He came straight up to me and he said 'oh my God, thank you, she looks absolutely stunning'.

"So I think for the both of them, they were just radiant at that time.

"Well I think everybody saw on television - he was absolutely in awe, I think.

"She looked just incredible and it showed."

Asked about the moment Meghan was able to look at herself fully dressed and ready in the mirror on Saturday morning, Ms Waight Keller said: "She was just glowing.

"There's so much emotion on a day like that anyway. But I think particularly when it all comes together, I think, is tremendous.

"She was absolutely radiant."

The veil, embroidered along the edge with flowers from all 53 Commonwealth nations, was carried at the end by two pageboys as she made her way up the aisle, over the black and white chequed stone floor of the church.

Her hair was styled in an up do for the service and she wore the glittering Queen Mary's Diamond Bandeau tiara, her something borrowed, which was loaned by the Queen.

Speaking after the wedding, the Duchess of Sussex's hair stylist said she was a calm and chatty bride, with no signs of nerves on her wedding morning.

Serge Normant said it was "dreamy" to work with Meghan, creating a bun that was "messy in a controlled way".

The pair, who met through friends around a year ago, clicked immediately on the "timeless" style they wished her to have for her union with the Duke of Sussex on Saturday.

Just hours before she emerged onto the steps of St George's Chapel to a worldwide audience, Meghan appeared relaxed, Mr Normant said.

He said: "She was calm, yeah. Chatty, absolutely. We were definitely having exchanges, yeah for sure.

"She was very happy. It was a beautiful morning, just the perfect morning to get married."

Asked if there were any signs of nerves, the Paris-born hairdresser said: "No I don't think so, she was just very happy, very happy, very excited".

Sounds of a gospel choir filled the stunning venue, with US preacher Bishop Michael Curry delivering an impassioned, rousing address on the power of love.

The royal family’s hilarious reactions to the flamboyant preacher, made him an overnight celebrity in his own right.

Beautiful Meghan, now officially the Duchess of Sussex, looked like she was doing her very best to keep a straight face as Rev Curry threw his arms in the air to proclaim the power of love.

The bishop said afterwards it had been a "real joyful thing" to bring diversity to the high-profile service.

An emotional Harry told his stunning bride as they met at the altar: "You look amazing. I missed you."

Missing from the day was Meghan's father Thomas Markle, who was thousands of miles away in Mexico after pulling out just days ago due to ill health.

He told celebrity website TMZ: "My baby looks beautiful and she looks very happy. I wish I were there and I wish them all my love and all happiness."

Mother-of-the-bride Doria Ragland, who fought back tears during the emotional service, was there for her daughter and the Prince of Wales was asked by Meghan to step in and walk her up the aisle of the Quire to meet Harry.

Surrounded by hundreds of cream and white roses and peonies entwined with green foliage around the West Door, the couple emerged from the chapel as husband and wife and stopped and kissed to the delight of cheering onlookers.

As they paused on the steps, a smiling Meghan looked up at her new husband and asked: "Do we kiss?"

Harry replied with a discreet: "Yeah."

More than 120,000 people flocked to the Berkshire town to catch a glimpse of the stunning couple and were not disappointed when Harry and Meghan underwent a carriage procession along the streets of Windsor, waving and smiling at their adoring fans.

Meghan exclaimed "wow" at their rapturous welcome and the pair shared a second kiss during the ride.
