Haryana CM Khattar announces Rs 30 lakh grant for death of cops in line of duty

Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced on Sunday to enhance the ex gratia grant to family members of police personnel who die in the line of duty from Rs10 lakh to Rs 30 lakh.

While Rs 20 lakh would be given to the dependent of the deceased and Rs 5 lakh each to the parents. In case both the father and mother are not alive, the grant money would be given to the dependent, Khattar said. CM was addressing Haryana’s biggest ever passing out parade held to induct 4,225 constables of the 84th batch of Recruit Basic Course in the police force after 10 months intensive training at Madhuban in Karnal.

Apart from this, financial assistance of 15 lakh would be given to terminally injured police personnel, Rs 10 lakh to severely injured and Rs 5 lakh would be given for minor injuries.

The chief minister also announced to set up six traffic police stations on Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) and Kundli-Gaziabad-Palwal (KGP) highways, one each in district of Sonipat, Jhajjar, Gurugram, Mewat, Palwal and Faridabad to regulate traffic on the expressway.

Khattar said that over 50% of the constables who completed their training had higher qualification.

Four ‘N’ Mantra

Giving a mantra of four ‘Ns’, Naitikta, Nayaya, Nidarta and Nipunta, the CM urged the passing out constables to diligently discharge their duty towards maintaining law and order at their of postings to further improve the image of the state police. He also announced four-day holiday for the newly-recruited cops.

Director General of Police (DGP) BS Sandhu said that out of 4,225 passouts, most are postgraduate and graduate in different stream, including science, engineering, commerce, political science, computer, LLB and teaching.

Their services would be taken in the Police Mitra Kaksh as well as Haryana 100 project which is being set up in Panchkula. He said that more than 2.5 lakh recruits have been trained so far in the academy.
