Top 30 best Premier League players ranked: Salah fourth, Xhaka beats Pogba, Kante way down
MOHAMED SALAH may have enjoyed a record-breaking season at Anfield, but the Liverpool winger is only the fourth best player in the Premier League according to CIES Football Observatory.
Salah scored 32 goals on his way to the Premier League Golden Boot this campaign, breaking the record for most strikes in a 38-game season in the process.
The Egyptian winger has been a revelation since arriving at Anfield from Roma last summer, scooping the PFA Player of the Year award and firing Liverpool to the Champions League final.
However, CIES Football Observatory only rank Salah as the fourth best player in the English top-flight this season based on their unique algorithm.
Taking into account footballers that have enjoyed at least 1,800 minutes of league action this season, the new study has rated every player on an index out of 100 based on their on-field performances.
The data has sprung up plenty of surprises with Granit Xhaka rated as more effective than Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kante, while Dejan Lovren is considered a better player than Mesut Ozil.
