When is The Handmaid's Tale season 2 released?

The Handmaid's Tale season two will be airing in the UK on Channel 4 tonight (Sunday, May 20) at 9pm.

Episodes will be airing on consecutive weeks in the UK.

Season two was released on streaming platform Hulu on April 25 in the US.

Hulu dropped the first two episodes in one go from midnight for fans in the US.

However, the streaming service is sadly only available in the US due to lack of international rights.

This season is longer than first at 13 episodes as opposed to the first run's 10.

Channel 4 will once again be broadcasting The Handmaid's Tale in the UK and Ireland.

The broadcaster announced they had once again secured the rights to the series earlier this year.

The new season will debut on Channel 4 on Sunday, May 20 at 9pm.

New episodes will air weekly at the same time.

They will also be added to Channel 4's on-demand service All 4 after broadcast.

How to watch The Handmaid's Tale season 2 online

Unfortunately for UK fans, season two of The Handmaid’s Tale is only available to stream on Hulu in the States.

Season one was added to Amazon Prime UK several months after its initial broadcast.

Amazon hasn’t confirmed if they will be showing season two yet but if they do it will likely not be added to the site until later in the year.

So those watching from the UK will have to wait until Channel 4 adds episodes to their streaming service More 4 later in the spring.

What will happen in The Handmaid's Tale season 2?

Season two will see Offred/June’s (played by Elisabeth Moss) pregnancy be a huge focus.

Viewers were left in the dark about who the father could be at the end of season one - could it be Commander Waterford’s (Joseph Fiennes) who ceremonially rapes her or Nick’s (Max Minghella) with whom she had a secret relationship?

The series is set to follow more events from the 1985 novel by Margaret Atwood on which it is based.
