S’garh admn to provide all help to rape victim

The minor girl, who delivered twin girls on Thursday here and was sent to the VIMSAR Burla in critical condition, would be provided all possible support by the district administration. Meanwhile, her condition is stated to be stable.

The 13-year-old girl was sexually exploited by a minor boy of her village. The parents of the girl, who eke out their living by working as daily labours, had come to know that she was pregnant during March after some health issue of the girl. They had lodged a complaint in the Sundargarh sadar police station on March 27.

After medical examination clarified that the girl was carrying over six months’ pregnancy and abortion was ruled out by doctors, the victim was kept in a short stay home. She had delivered twin girl babies at the Sundargarh District Headquarters Hospital on Thursday. Later, her condition had grown critical and she had to be admitted at the VIMSAR.

In the wake of her helplessness, some activists had demanded that the district administration should come to her and her newborn’s rescue and provide them all support for sustenance. Sundargarh Collector SK Meena, assured all possible support to the rape survivor girl.

Meena said, "She would soon receive Rs 3 lakh as the compensation, which would be deposited as fixed deposit in her name, apart from other support.”
