Beirut Governor Ziad Chebib ordered an investigation into a nightclub Saturday after a video circulated on social media purporting to show recordings of Quran verses being played at the club.
A statement released by the municipality’s media office said Chebib called for a quick report to be drawn up on the club, so the authorities can make a decision.
The name of the club was not mentioned.
Back in March, another Beirut nightclub was the target of an investigation and shut down after videos of a risque performance circulated on social media. The club, Discotek, had been hosting Cirque Le Soir, a London-based burlesque club on a world tour. Following an Internal Security Forces investigation, it re-opened last month.
