Youth shot dead in Meerut

In a sensational incident in Meerut, a youth was shot at soon after he met the SSP to demand release of his sister from the clutches of a local history sheeter and asked for security.  

Surprisingly, the local police has so far taken no cognizance in the matter even when tension prevailed in the area as the history sheeter and the victim belonged to separate communities. 

As per reports, history sheeter Shahzad of Parikshitgarh police station area of Meerut, kidnapped a girl on last Friday. The victim was recently married. The victim’s brother lodged a case in this regard against Shahzad and five others including Babu, Rizwan, and Khaleed. However the police did not take any action in the matter.

In the meantime, Shahzad kept on threatening the girl’s brother asking him to withdraw the case or face the music. Fearing of his life, the youth contacted SSP Meerut, Rajesh Pandey on Thursday evening and requested him to rescue his sister and provide the family protection. 

But, as he left the SSP office and was returning home, the history sheeter’s cronies opened fire critically injuring him. 

Luckily some villagers rushed to the spot which saved the victim’s life and thet was rushed him to district hospital. The police was later informed but the cops were yet to take action in the matter.

Meanwhile, agitated with the killing of a local corporator’s son in Barabanki, several villagers blocked traffic on Lucknow-Faizabad highway causing a huge traffic jam. The protest ended after senior officers reached the spot and assured of action. 

As per reports, Durgesh Yadav (32) whose father Ram Gopal Yadav is the sitting corporator of Kothi Ward in Haidergarh (Barabanki) went to drop his friend on Thursday evening. When he not return home, Ram Gopal and other kin searched for him and later found him lying on the roadside in a critical condition. They rushed Durgesh to the District Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival. 

Agitated with the killing, Ram Gopal along with former MLA, Ramgagan Rawat reached the Lucknow-Faizabad highway and blocked traffic movement. They demanded the arrest of culprits alleging that the killing was orchestrated by Durgesh Tewari, Pappu and two others. Later senior officers intervened and got a case registered against the named persons and on the assurance of early arrest, they somehow the protesters to leave the place.
