Two officials booked for neglecting poll duty in Palghar

Offences under the Representation of the People Act were registered against two block development officers in neighbouring district for not attending to poll duties assigned to them in connection with the bypoll slated for May 28.

The Collector's office released a statement informing that offences under section 134 of the Representation of the People Act had been registered at station against Dahanu BDO B H Barakshe and Talsari BDO B V Nale.

It added that the two officials had ignored poll duties assigned to them and, therefore, action was taken against them.

The moves comes two days after a revenue department official, D Dalvi, was suspended for alleged dereliction of duty in connection with poll-related works in the Assembly constituency.

The release added that action was taken on the instructions of who is also the election in charge for the May 28 bypoll.

It added that preparations for the bypoll, necessitated due to the death of sitting Chintaman Wanga on January 30 this year, were underway in full swing.
